Microsoft has a feature named Media Sense to Windows Server 2003.
Media Sense enables Windows Server 2003 to detect when the Ethernet cable is removed and, as a result, disable the TCP stack.
However, CIMPLICITY disables Media Sense during CIMPLICITY setup, by adding a registry entry that causes Windows 2000 to ignore the loss of the Ethernet cable.
The CIMPLICITY entry to the registry is:
Path |
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters |
Name |
DisableDHCPMediaSense |
Type |
REG_DWORDValue |
Data Range |
0, 1 (False, True) |
Default |
0 (False) |
To re-enable Media Sense:
Do one of the following:
Delete the registry entry or
Change the value 0.
Step 3. Configure device general properties. |
