Proficy Portal Control in CimView Technical Notes

The Proficy Portal control can share a CimView screen with other CIMPLICITY options.

The ability to use all of the items on the CimView screen may be effected when the Portal server is not running or is shut down.

	The Portal Server is not running.
	The Portal Server shuts down while a CimView screen is running.

The Portal Server is Not Running

Setup	The Portal Server is not running. The CIMPLICITY project is running. A CimView screen includes a: Proficy Portal control. CIMPLICITY set point object.
Action	The CimView screen is opened.
Result	Proficy Portal connection lost message boxes open When OK is clicked a Log in dialog box opens. The Log in dialog box does not have an option to cancel.
Solution	Do either of the following: Start the Proficy Portal Server You will be able to log in and access the Proficy Portal as well as set the CIMPLICITY point. Close the CimView screen.

The Portal Server Shuts Down while a CimView Screen is Running

Setup	The Portal Server is running when CimView is opened. The CIMPLICITY project is running. A CimView screen includes a: Proficy Portal control. CIMPLICITY set point object.
Action	The Portal Server is shut down while CimView is running.
Result	A Proficy Portal connection lost message box opens. When OK is clicked a Log in dialog box opens. The Log in dialog box includes a Cancel button. When Cancel is clicked the Log in dialog box will not open again. Set point operations can continue. Connection lost messages will repeatedly open.
Solution	Do either of the following. Restart the Proficy Portal Server Continue to: Use the CIMPLICITY objects on the CimView screen. Click OK to close the connection lost message boxes.
