Supported Windows versions supersede the file extension .spc to reference pkcs #7 certificates file format instead of CIMPLICITY .spc file format.
As a result, you will not be able to directly open GE Fanuc .SPC documents from the Workbench.
To avoid this error, activate the SPC option from the Workbench, and open the document from the SPC Configuration File menu.
If Windows was installed before the first time you loaded the CIMPLICITY SPC option, you may also need to manually configure the CIMPLICITY SPC Configuration File Type.
Alternately, if you will not be using an Internet Browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) on your computer, you may remove the .SPC file association as follows.
Open Windows Explorer.
Click Tools>Folder Options on the Windows Explorer menu bar.
The Folder Options dialog box opens.
Click the File Types tab.
Search through the list of Registered File Types for the SPC entry labeled "PKCS #7 Certificates."
Select this item, and click the Delete button.
Click Yes in the confirmation box.
Click the New button.
A Create New Extension dialog box opens.
Enter .spc in the File Extension field.
Click
.Select SpcCfg Document in the Associated File Type drop-down list.
Click
.Confirm that SPC opens with SPCCFG in the Details for 'SPC' extension box.
(If SPCCG is not selected)
Click
.An Open With browser opens.
Select SPCCFG in the list.
Click
.Click
.Result: The SPC files will now open through the CIMPLICITY Workbench.
