PRT provides the reserved Item type $UNKNOWN, which can be associated with a non-serialized item at the start of production.
Guidelines that must be followed when using this
association are:
The association can only take
place when a non-serialized Item passes a transition indicator.
The transition indicator must be
configured as an Item type detector.
A CIMPLICITY Point must be
configured to report positive identification of the Item type.
An application interface message
can associate a non-serialized Item with an unknown Item type.
The Item type of the
non-serialized item must be identified later in the production
process.
Unexpected Item errors will apply
to Non-serialized Items. (Out of sequence
errors will apply to Serialized Items only.)
