Summary:
Question: I tried moving my trend files to another directory, but Citect did not find my existing data. Can I move the trend files to another directory?

Solution:
When the Trend server creates the history files, it also creates a directory of the files in a file called <name>.HST, where name is the trend file name. This file contains the time of each of the history files, as well as its full path. This ensures the best performance to the trending system. If you copy all the trend files to a new directory, the full paths in the HST file will still point to the old directory, so the trending system will not be able to find the files.

If you don't need the existing data in the trend files, just delete all the trend files and the Trend server will re-create them on startup. There is no support that allows you to move existing trend files to another directory.

See Q2143 for updated information for users of Citect 5.xx.
