Summary:
Question: What does the error message 'Out of Kernel Tasks' mean?

Solution:
This error message is generated when Citect has run out of kernel tasks. Citect uses kernel tasks for scheduling its internal processes. The I/O Server is a heavy user of kernel tasks, and the more ports and drivers you add, the more tasks the I/O Server will use. If you receive this error message when you startup the I/O Server, you need to increase the number of kernel tasks. To increase the number of kernel tasks use the options [Kernel] Task=<number>. The default number of tasks is 128. This option is only supported in the CITECT.INI file. To increase the number of kernel tasks to 200 set the following option in the CITECT.INI file:

[Kernel]
Task=200

This error may also be generated by a bug in Citect. If this error only comes up after running Citect for a long time, or increasing the above parameter does not fix the problem, contact Citect Support for more details.
