Summary: |
In some Citect systems, the KF protocol may
timeout occasionally when doing operations such as changing pages,
moving windows about the screen or printing reports.
The KF protocol needs to continuously poll the KF (KE) module while waiting for responses. If Citect changes pages, prints out a report or anything that holds onto the CPU for too long, then the polling sequence may be interrupted. This will generate a Citect Hardware Alarm (timeout error). |
Solution: |
The solution to this problem is to
increase the Poll Time in the KF module or KE module. This setting
is found in the 'DF1 Protocol Half Duplex Setup'. The new
recommended setting is 5 seconds. If you have a large amount of
data you may want to increase this time to 10 seconds.
When using the KF3 module the parameter to adjust is 3. (dot means sub menu) DF1 ACK Timeout. To calculate the timeout, multiply the number in the display by 0.1 seconds. This should be set to 50, ie 5 seconds. |
