Summary:
You may find that your computer will crash under some conditions while running Citect, however it would not crash when running other applications. This does not mean that there is a problem with Citect.

Solution:
Many computer crashes can be traced to incorrect installation of Windows, Network drivers or faulty hardware. Under these conditions you may find that your computer will crash while only running Citect. This occurs because Citect is a much more demanding application of your computer and its resources. You are most likely running Citect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and even if the operators are not interacting with Citect a lot of work is being done. This includes gathering information from your plant, scanning for alarms, running reports and logging data to disk. This means that Citect is driving your computer system constantly.

Most user application will not put this type of load on your computer system. For example your word processor will do nothing unless you type data into it, and only save to disk when you tell it to (some may auto save at a slow rate if changes occurred). As Citect puts a constant load on your computer system, if there is any problem with the configuration or hardware then Citect is the most likely application which will find it and cause the computer to crash. To find the same problem in say a word processor you would have to run up the Word processor and keep the user constantly typing for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you did this then the word processor would most likely find the same fault in the computer.
