Summary:
My users are able to login with a blank name and password. I am using the online users feature with some user 'types' defined in my user database. 

Solution:
The users are loging in to the 'types' that are defined in the user database. To prevent this from happening specify a dummy name and password when defining a type. e.g. 'type' for name and 'secret' for password.
