| We have had various problems with Novells
NETBIOS emulator running under Windows version 3.x. Novells NETBIOS
emulator was originally developed for the DOS operating system and
is unstable under some conditions when running under Windows. Some
of these problems are detailed in article Q1047.
Currently we don't recommend using Windows version 3.1 and the
Novell NETBIOS emulator. You should upgrade to Windows for
Workgroups version 3.11 and use either Microsoft IPX/SPX with
NetBIOS or the Microsoft NetBEUI protocol. Windows for Workgroups
protocols are true 32 bit protocol stacks which require no DOS
memory and have been designed especially to run under Windows.
These protocols are much more reliable and give higher performance
than the older DOS based protocols.
