Summary: |
I would like to use a mainframe-based version of Oracle to accept data from Citect (Via DBF or CSV files), as well as import data into Citect from Oracle, and view it in the Trend system in Citect. I would assume that this is a fairly simple procedure, but I'm not sure whether I'm going to encounter any problems talking to Oracle on a Mainframe system (I'm assuming TCP/IP here). There are a number of Knowledge base articles on Oracle, but they all seem to assume a Windows version of Oracle. |
Solution: |
Citect communicates to the Oracle SQL
server via a ODBC driver supplied from Oracle. The ODBC driver
handles all the communication from Citect to the SQL server so
Citect does not have to get involved in how it works. As it is up
to the ODBC driver to do all the work, Citect does not care what
type of computer the SQL server is running so long as the ODBC
driver can talk to it.
You should check with Oracle to make sure that their ODBC driver will communicate with the computer you have. |
