I want to run up Citect as a service under Windows 95. How can I do this? |
Solution: |
In a similar fashion to Windows NT (see
Q1865), it is actually possible to run
Citect as a service under Windows 95. Previously you may have
thought that Windows 95 didn't have services as such, but in fact
it does.
To launch Citect as a servcie under Windows 95, you must make a key in the 95 registry that says [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runservices] You should be aware however that if you do this though you won't get any user interface. Therefore it is only worthwhile doing on an IOServer or something like that. Running Citect as a service means that the machine doesn't need to be logged in before the app starts running, as is the case with say putting Citect in the startup group. |
