Summary:
I have been told that the Serial Port Module (SPM) uses exactly the same protocol as the CIU, but that it is at a lower level (less traffic therefore and considerably less cost ~$200 as opposed to ~$12,000). How can I use the Bailey Net 90 NCIU02/03 protocol with the SPM module? 

Solution:
The SPM has access to only 500 parameters, instead of 5000, at the Node Level. The data is also not exception based and must be configured to write to the SPM so you can access it. As I remember it can only access the node that it is on. You must set a parameter in the CITECT.INI file to use the SPM. My understanding is that you must also put the entire address:

<Type><Index>,<Ring>,<Node>,<Module>,<Block[.Sub]>

even though you can't access any information outside of your node. Check the Help files of Citect for the Details.
