I am considering using the KE protocol. What are some things to look out for? |
Solution: |
Tips Tip #1: The KE protocol is half duplex only. See KB article Q1812. Tip #2: A direct connection to a single PLC will be three to four times faster than a 1747-KE module connection, but you are restricted to one PLC per connection. Tricks Trick #1: Use a multiple port Digiboard to talk to each of the PLC directly using the KE500 protocol. You should easily get page update time of less than 1 second. You might even get 0.5 seconds update time if you optimise the blocking of your requests. Trick #2: If you get error 0x10500, the setting for maximum request size or maximum pending commands could be wrong. Refer to KB article Q2013. |
