Summary:
Buttons that lie within the extent of a colour flood are not selectable with the mouse. Buttons that are partially within the colour flood extent may be selectable from 1 direction, but not another.

This problem was introduced with Service Pack C.

 

Solution:
This problem has been corrected in 3.4/4.2 Service Pack D.
