Summary:
I have an AB SLC5/03 and a 1784-KT card and intend using Citect's ABKT500 protocol to communicate over DH485. I know the ABKT driver needs to interface with AB proprietary software such as Interchange. I bought an AB package called RSView which contains an RSLinx module, but I can't get Citect to recognise it.

Solution:
Allen Bradley/Rockwell have many PLC programming and Interface packages on the market. Only some of these are useable by non AB proprietary applications such as Citect to interface to AB hardware. RSLinx is a 32 bit application for use under Win95 and NT. I believe it is an enhanced version of the AB Interchange software which is 16 bit and runs under wfw311 and Win95. However the Version of RSLinx shipped with many AB programming suites is actually RSLinx Lite - a cut down version of the application which, amongst other things. Citect cannot interface with this module. Even though the Linx diagnostics will detect no errors, if you start Citect with RSLinx Lite running you will encounter faults such as failure to find the allocation key or "DTL_E_Server is not running". These are not Citect Error messages, but messages read from RSLinx Lite.

We are attempting to obtain a list Allen Bradley products which ship compatible interface software and will post new information here as it becomes available.

Note: If you are prepared to upgrade your processors to 5/04's you can use a DH+ network and our CIKT board driver and ABTCP500 protocol. This will result in significant performance gains and does not require any AB interface software.
