Summary:
If you have previously chosen to hide the trend print dialog box then when you print the next time you get a hardware error and no printing occurs. 

Solution:
CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions 3.40/4.20 Service Pack F. This problem has been fixed in version 3.40/4.20 Service Pack G.
