Summary: |
Sometimes changes made to a template aren't reflected on a page linked to that template, even after an update pages has been done. |
Solution: |
The update pages operation in Graphics
Builder identifies when a page needs to be updated by comparing the
modified date and time of the page against that of the template. If
the template's modified date is more recent than that for the page
then the page needs to be updated.
Because Graphics Builder uses the modified date and time for the comparison there are situations where a page needs to be updated but the update pages won't do it. The most likely scenario for this problem to arise is where a project is being modified in several places at once (ie by two people on two separate machines). This can also be the case where pages are "copied" into a project from another source after the template has been modified. Running a project that is in this condition can cause unexpected results such as Citect not being able to display that page. There are basically two methods for resolving this situation. The first is to manually open the page and resave it in Graphics Builder, causing the latest version of the template to be linked to the page. The second method involves resaving the template (causing it's modified date to become more recent than the page) and then performing an update pages. If the problem still persists, then you will need to open the affected page, switch the template to a new template, switch the template back to the required template and save the page. CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions to 5.01. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available. |
