Summary:
I would like to start Citect automatically. However when I install Citect as a shell I get the following error message on start up:

"Opening \\.\COM1 of Board 'PCServer_Serial1' : Error 'The system cannot find the file specified'"

This error refers to the serial card. After this error is displayed Citect starts up normally and neither of the COM ports can be initialised. If I then revert to starting NT normally (with automatic log on and Citect starting automatically via "Startup") then the serial card is opened OK.

How can I avoid this error?

 

Solution:
This error is caused because the COM port or DigiBoard drivers have not completed loading before Citect has started. Use the parameter [General]StartDelay to delay the startup of Citect until the COM port drivers have finished loading.
