Summary:
I have completed many Citect upgrades from version 2 to 3.x, 4.x and 5.x. I have found that when a I do a ctbackup.001 in Citect 2 and use the CtBackup for my upgrade I sometimes get a lot of compile errors.

I found that in the upgraded database in PGBUTTON.DBF some of the projects VIS_MODE entries has garble characters in the field instead of being blanks. This was causing it to return with many compile errors.

Solution:
Use database editor and remove all the garble characters from the VIS_MODE field in PGBUTTON.DBF and the compile will complete without errors (as long as the project also compiles in version 2 as well)
