Summary:
When using the APPLIC driver, the error number 401 is seen on the hardware alarm page or in the kernel. This error indicates the request has not been matched correctly with the response. 

Solution:
CIT has confirmed this to be a problem. This problem has been fixed in driver version 2.03. The solution has been to default the driver retry parameter to zero and users will not be able to modify this value.
