Summary:
I have tried changing the method of saving alarm records back from alarm tag name to record number identifier. I used the [alarm]SaveStyle parameter values specified in the Citect Help but nothing happened. What is wrong? 

Solution:
In versions 3.x the [Alarm]SaveStyle parameter was correctly documented. Values of 1 and 2 can be used to save the records with record number or alarm tag identifiers, respectively. These values are still supported in versions 5.x. In version 5.x new values of 2 and 3 are used for these same alarm record saving styles. Currently values 1 and 2 are translated to 3 and 4 respectively in Citect. This can allow future flexibility. Using the version 5.x or 4.x documented values of 0 and 1 will both result in saving with record number identifier because 0 is not supported.

CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows version 4.x to 5.21. The documentation will be amended for future versions.
