Summary:
Can I use the schedule function that was intended for remote dial up I/O to schedule connection to a plc connected directly to the PC?  

Solution:
Yes. You can set the schedule to True, specify a time period and connect your PLC locally. You must specify a com port number in your ports form, replacing the -1 that is used for dial up in Citect V5.2x.

Once set up you will see this in the Citect kernel;

Unit statistics: Number of dials, next scheduled time, total and average connection time.

Main window: Channel, port and unit state. (must be enabled with the dial parameter)
