Summary:
I have installed Citect v5.x under Windows 2000 on my Pentium class computer and it is not detecting my Software Protection Key in LPT1.  What can I do?

Solution:
The Software Protection Key driver may not work correctly on some older computers under Windows 2000.  To enable correct detection of the Key by the driver, complete the following -

1. From the Start menu choose Programs and Administrative Tools and run the Computer Management program.

2. Select Device Manager and then under Ports (COM & LPT) double-click on the Printer Port to get the properties dialog box.

3. Under Port Settings tick "Enable legacy Plug and Play detection" for LPT1

Next you can manually restart the Sentinel driver service by doing the following -

1. Right-click on the Device Manager and from the View menu choose Show Hidden Devices.

2. Under Non-Plug and Play Drivers, double click on the Sentinel driver to open the properties dialog.

3. Choose the Driver tab and click Stop to stop the driver and then Start to re-start the driver.

Close the Computer Management program and run Citect.
