Summary:
Just can't get the Koyo 450 to talk to a serial port on your PC?

Solution:
The most likely and very common cause is a missing parameter under Project Editor - Communications - Ports, i.e.:

    Special Opt: -m

Note: This parameter is required even if your Citect PC is stand-alone and gets cleared by the Communications Express Wizard!

If adding the '-m' parameter didn't fix it, you may wish to try the following:

  • Run Computer Setup Wizard from Citect Explorer.
  • Run Communications Express Wizard from Citect Project Editor.
  • Modify the following defaults under Project Editor - Communications - Ports:

                Special Opt: -m

  • Check the cable connections:
DB 9 at PC   _______________ PLC Port 1 (DB 25)
2   _______________ 2 (TXD)
3   _______________ 3 (RXD)
jumper 5 and 7 to shell  --- no connection ---
jumper 7 and 8  --- no connection ---

            or

DB 9 at PC   _______________ PLC Port 1 (DB 25)
2   _______________ 3 (RXD)
3   _______________ 4 (TXD)
5   _______________ 1 (GND)
7  _______________ 8

Note: The transmit / receive signals have to be crossed on port 2, but not on port 1!

  • Set the PLC communications parameters to match the Citect configuration. If you use the DirectSOFT32 software, select PLC - Setup - 'Setup Sec. Comm Port'.
