Summary:
When using cicode Point functions, i.e. PointNew(), PointRead(), PointWrite() etc, the parameter [General]Point must be set. This value may be any value in the range 1 to 10000 and represents the maximum number of Points that may be allocated at any one time. If this number is exceeded then PointNew() will return -1. 

Solution:
CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions 5.21 to 5.31. This problem has been fixed in version 5.40.
