Summary:

Whilst it is not recommended that you do so, it is possible to create trend tags with names that start with a number. Such tags can be compiled by setting the parameter [GENERAL]TagStartDigit to 1 as described in Q1862. When you query such a tag using the OLE-DB provider with a select <tagname> on the TrendView table the call may return an error.

Solution:

CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions 5.21 to 5.31. This problem has been fixed in version 5.40.
