Summary:
I am using the Mitsubishi A3U CPU which can support registers up to and including D8191. I am also using the Ethernet module

A71E71-S3. In the melscnet.dbf driver file, the entry for the "D" data type suggests that upto D9255 can be accessed but I cannot read any addresses above D6143.

 

Solution:
The problem lies with the Mitshubishi Ethernet module A71E71-S3. The A3U CPU supports data registers up to D8193 but the Ethernet module A71E71-S3 is limited to address D6143 and below.
