  • CitectHMI 5.2x to 5.4x

Summary:
We are experiencing an error dialog box on our I/O Server that is halting operations;

File (S:\SPKF\SOURCE\ioserver\PLC_DRV.C) Line (2346)
Error Bad data/unit <n> type

Where <n> can be any whole number.

In your SYSLOG.DAT file, you can find the following:

Tue Aug 14 12:28:09 2001 910:04:17.789 Error: Driver software error

And

Tue Aug 14 14:11:13 2001 File (S:\SPKG\SOURCE\ioserver\PLC_DRV.C) Line (2346)
Error Bad data/unit 1 type

Is there a way to stop this?

Solution:
Citect has confirmed this to be a problem in CitectHMI/SCADA for Windows versions 5.2x to 5.4x. This has been resolved in CitectHMI/SCADA v5.50r0 where the modal dialog box containing the error above is replaced by a hardware alarm. If you cannot upgrade to v5.50r0, you could temporarily define [DEBUG]SysErrDsp=0 in your CITECT.INI file; however this is NOT recommended, as this parameter will turn off all system errors.
