A corrupt master trend file (a trend data file with an .hst extension) may cause Citect to display the following error message and then shutdown.

Solution:
Deleting the master trend file will allow Citect to start up normally.

CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions 5.31 to 5.40 Service Pack B. This problem has been fixed in version 5.41.
