Are there any reliable alternatives for Remote access to Citect SCADA systems? |
Solution: |
There are a few known hardware solutions
that have performed in the field and may prove to be better
solutions for dial up to your SCADA system than what is offered in
PC based remote access systems such as WindowsNT/2000/XP. Hardware
solutions may be more expensive initially however have some
distinct advantages and benefits. For example the following
solutions, typically used to provide internet access (LAN to LAN
TCP/IP routing) are easily set up for remote access;
1. Netgear RM356 Kbps Modem Router. This has 4 10BaseT ports and a V.90 modem built in. The advantage of this unit is that with the multiple UTP ports you can connect your PC's, your ethernet PLC and be able to dial in to this SCADA system with security. 2. Argus Webgate 1502 Internet Router. This has one 10/100 Base-T port and two serial ports. Requires an external modem. Both suppliers above have websites for you to peruse details. |
