Summary:
Running the ASCII driver gives an error;

ASCII Driver v: ERROR Citect.ini protocol definition 'ASCII'

If you click ok then Citect starts up. When you go to the graphics page associated with the variable tags it gives a Citect32.exe error and generates an Exception Report in the syslog.dat file similar to; Exception 0xc0000005 occurred at 0x61296301.

 

Solution:
The ASCII driver has detected that something in the template definitions are not correct in the Citect.ini file. A line-by-line inspection of the suspect citect.ini file "ASCII" driver parameters will reveal either a typo or some other formatting error.
