Summary:
There are occasions when the automation interface function AttributeClass returns the class Genie when in fact the object is of type Symbol. 

Solution:
Citect has confirmed this to be a problem in CitectSCADA version 5.41. This problem has been fixed in version 5.41 Service Pack A.
