Summary:
The new Mitsubishi Q series PLC has a direct serial port on the front of it that we would like to use for Citect I/O communications. Is this possible? 

Solution:

Yes, there are two possibilities:

1. By using the software package MX Components in combination with the MX-Links Driver you can make a direct connection to the CPU-port on he front of both PLC's

2. Use a Mistubishi QC24 communications module (Part numbers A1SJ71QC24 or A1SJ71QC24 (-R2) ) and the Citect Melsec driver. With the SystemQ you can use the QJ71(U)C24, but you will have to program the module to communicate in A-format (1C-frame). When using the serial connection with the SystemQ only the A-CPU device-range, without the file-registers, is available.
