Summary:
If using dynamic data strings in alarm fields Multi State Alarm description entries can be overwritten, when the dynamic data string grows in size. In versions post 5.50 it is also possible that custom field data can be corrupted in the same manner.

Solution:
Citect has confirmed this to be a problem in CitectHMI/SCADA versions v5.42 to 5.50 Spk B. This problem has been fixed in version 6.00.

This problem can be overcome by modifying SARGDIG.DBF, changing ALMDESC0-7 from ATTRIBUTE=1 to ATTRIBUTE=2. The DBF will need to be saved using the save/close macro from SAVE_DBF.xls.

This could have a slight impact upon alarm performance, as the multi-states will be re-evaluated every time an alarm is triggered.
