Summary:
Can I use Citect's ABCLX driver to communicate to a PLC5 when it is connected to a ControlLogix gateway (i.e. PC to ControlLogix gateway via Ethernet, then ControlLogix gateway to PLC via DH+, CNet, Ethernet, etc)?

Solution:
No.  Citect's ABCLX driver should only be used when:
1. The first hop (i.e. PC to PLC) is Ethernet.
2. When the end device is a ControlLogix/FlexLogix/CompactLogix (i.e. the 'end device' means the PLC with the data).

Additional note: ABCLX is not suitable for very slow connections or intermittent communications such as dialup/radio/microwave/etc. In this case use OPC or ABRSLINX
