Summary:
This occurs if the numeric object(s) (whether in a genie or not) have a format of “<default>” and the tag which they display is not in the variable database of the currently selected project (the one highlighted in Citect Explorer). The tag may reside in an included project or may not exist yet. 
 

Solution:
This is a known problem that was introduced in v5.50. To work around, you would have to have the project in which the tags reside selected in Citect Explorer when editing in Graphics Builder, or move all tags into a single project (not recommended), or explicitly set the format for all numeric objects (not recommended). Note that for numeric objects with CiCode expressions or tags that don’t exist yet the only solution is the latter (explicitly set the format field for each object).

This problem has been fixed in version 6.00 Spk A and 6.10.
