Summary:
The DNPR driver version 3.1.8.0 supports a max of 512 (physical units + ports).

For example:

Port 1 - 30 i/o devices
Port 2 - 10 i/o devices
----------- ----------------------
2 40

The number of allocated items is 2 + 40= 42, which leaves 512 - 42 = 470 spare.
 

Solution:
DNPR driver 3.1.9.0 enhanced to support 1024 items

where an item is classed as:
a) physical units (i/o device) or
b) Port
