I have run the installer to setup
CitectSCADA 6.10 on my PC, however the CitectSCADA Setup wizard
will not proceed past the selection of the destination
folders.

Solution: |
This behaviour is related to the operating
system's DCOM (Distributed Component Services) settings,
specifically the Default Impersonation Level having been set to
'Anonymous', possibly in order to enable a remote OPC
connection. A Default Impersonation Level of 'Anonymous' will also result in the 'Network and dial-up connections' window not listing the installed connections (in Windows 2000) or not allowing the 'Properties' dialog of the listed connections to be opened (Windows XP) despite the connections being available. This is discussed in Microsoft Knowledgebase article 273461 entitled 'Network and Dial-Up Connection Icons Disappear When You Use Dcomcnfg.exe to Set the Default Impersonation Level to Anonymous' and article 825826 entitled 'How to troubleshoot missing network connections icons in Windows Server 2003 and in Windows XP'. In order to perform an installation of CitectSCADA 6.10 the Default Impersonation Ievel will need to be set to a mode other than 'Anonymous'. Accordingly, simply follow the advice given in the aforementioned Microsoft resource appropriate to your operating system. These are copied below. For Windows 2000 follow the workaround, below, provided in article 273461, found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/273461/ at the time of writing. To work around the problem, use Dcomcnfg.exe to reset the Default Impersonation Level setting: 1. Click Start, click Run, type dcomcnfg, and then click OK. 2. On the Default Properties tab, click any setting other than Anonymous in the Default Impersonation Level box. The default setting is Identify. After you make this change, all previously-defined Network and Dial-up Connection objects become accessible again.
In each case, return the Default Impersonation Level to
'Anonymous' after installation of CitectSCADA 6.10 if you require a
remote OPC connection. |
