Summary:
I have a DBF previously defined and am not able to change the widths of some of the columns.  I have gone into the Project Editor and have changed the values in the format field in the Devices form but the changes do not seem to propagate to the actual dbf. I have also tried to use the DevModify() function with no success.
 

Solution:
Once a device file has been opened and it exists in the location specified under the Devices form, it cannot be modified using the Project Editor, so the only way to modify the dbf will be to open it in a third party program such as Microsoft Excel, or alternatively, rename the dbf and once Citect is coerced to reopen the device, it will now create the device with the format that has been specified in the devices form.

DevModify() has the capacity to only change the RDB file for that device and not its underlying DBF.
