  • CitectSCADA 6.xx
  • CitectHMI 6.xx

Summary:
Citect locks up when trying to write to file on a remote machine that does not exist or is shutdown. E.g., the remote file could be an alarm log device or a report device. The lock up can last for a few seconds or can in some cases be permanent.

Solution:
If Citect SCADA needs to open a network file on a computer that it cannot find (either because it has been shutdown or otherwise), Citect will pause for the designated time determined by windows. This is a design limitation of the software. A symptom of this lock up can include gaps in the trends.

However, in CitectSCADA version 6.1, the trend gap issue can be avoided by configuring Citect to run in multi-process mode which will run the Trend, Alarm, Report and I/O servers on different processes.
