Summary:
I am having problems establishing a connection between an Excel client to a CitectSCADA Server using Network DDE and Win XP? What could be the problem?
 

Solution:
Make sure that the NETDDE.EXE process, shown below, is running in the Task Manager of the Excel client as well as the CitectSCADA server i.e. if you are using two separate computers for the Excel client and the CitectSCADA server.


If the NETDDE.EXE Process is not running then you will need to go to the Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services. Open the Services window and find the services called Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM. If these two services are not configured with the Status as Started and the Startup Type as Automatic then you will need to reconfigure them accordingly as shown below.



Once these two Services have been configured, as shown above, then you will see the NETDDE.EXE process in the Task Manager. It should now be possible to establish a connection between the Excel client and the CitectSCADA server.
