Summary:

If the primary server is switched off the standby server and clients can take a long time to start.

 

Solution:

Set the following parameter in the Citect.ini

[Client] WaitForConnectAtStartup = 0 (introduced in V7)

This will allow the client to start without waiting for the for the connection attempt to fail.
