Summary:

When using the CITCMP driver to ping devices on a network the IOserver will show the device is off line when the target device is not available. It might be expected that the driver should show that the target device is not responding rather that the driver is off line.

Solution:

The driver will be taken off line if no configured target devices are responding. In the case that there is only one device configured as a target and that device is off line, then the driver will go off line. The workaround for this is to ping the IOservers IP address. Because as long as the IO server is online, the driver will get a response and the driver will report the actual status of the target device.
