Summary:

I have a network printer which directly attached to a machine/station. I have configured it as a printer device using the LPT1.DOS print configuration with ASCII dev. It is functioning well except that it cannot print the alarms trigerred, acknowledged, disabled or anything you can modify within an alarm. Why is that so?

Solution:

Using "Localhost" as the loopback address in Citect will results in the network printer not being able to recognize that it is attached directly to the machine. Therefore, the printer cannot act as a printer device in citect properly. Thus, using LPT1.DOS print will not print alarms at all.

The reason for this is that "Localhost" is not recognized as the loopback address. In this case, we must use 127.0.0.1 as the loopback IP address in order for the network printer to operate corretly on LPT1.DOS print (to print the alarms).
