| Summary: |
| In versions prior to 6.10, Control
(Display) Clients and View-only (Manager) Clients could run without
a local installation. This was configured by creating a shortcut
that referred to the citect32.exe and an appropriately configured
citect.ini file on a file server, accessed via a mapped drive or
UNC path. The file server did not necessarily have to be a
CitectSCADA server, but did require a full CitectSCADA installation
and a copy of the project(s). As of version 6.10 of CitectSCADA and VijeoCitect, such a configuration is no longer possible. An attempt to start the runtime on a Control or View-only client configured as described above will result in the popup error below: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.  |
| Solution: |
| CitectSCADA and VijeoCitect Control and
Manager clients version 6.10 and greater require a full local
installation. While the configuration described above may have been
possible with prior versions, such a setup was not supported or
advocated. As an alternative, we recommend that Web Control Clients or Web View-only Clients be used on machines where full CitectSCADA or VijeoCitect installation is not possible or desirable. |
