22.2.11    PING to test TCP/IP communications

PING is a method of testing communications from your computer to the WebAccess Project or SCADA node. It is built into Microsoft Operating Systems and just sends a short message to the target machine.  It gets a reply back if TCP/IP communications are working.

You can PING from the Command Prompt.

1) Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

     2) Then type:

PING ipaddress

You can also ping localhost and ping computer name.
For example: ping yahoo.com

To ping the Live Demo's IP address, type: PING 64.55.156.4

You can also ping a registered URL or valid TCP/IP host name (i.e. computer name). To ping the Live Demo's URL, type: PING 64.55.156.4
