4.1.4   Parameter Types

Parameter Types are Template Objects in the WebAccess Database used in both Tags and Blocks. When creating a “Tag” the user selects a parameter type as a starting template for defining the features of that tag.  Parameter Types are also grouped together to form a Block

Parameters Types are a generalized template for any value read from a PLC, Controller or other plant floor device. A parameter assigns default values for the engineering units, data type, alarms and other features. Once a tag is created, all the fields associated with the parameter can be edited (except for data type).

Parameter Types are also grouped together to form a Block type.  A block Type is a list of all the Parameter types that will be assigned to the block.

A user does not need to define parameter types; each WebAccess comes with a set of predefined parameter types that should meet most needs. However, parameters can be create users can create and modify parameters.

There can be an unlimited number of Parameter Types.
