This is the first step in creating an Analog IO Tag.  You must select a Parameter that is an Analog type Parameter.   The parameter acts as a starting template for defining the features of that tag.  The important thing is to get the Data type correct; you cannot change Parameter type or change from Analog to Discrete to Text.  All other properties can be changed.

Chosen from the pull down list on the Add Tag properties page. Parameters are IO device driver dependant. Different drivers use different parameters. AI usually signifies an Analog-type parameter. DI or CI signifies Discrete-type parameters.
