4.3.5   Description

The Description appears in Dialog Boxes and Detail Displays as a label or advertisement of what the tag does.  Description helps an Operator identify the use or location of the tag.  Description does not affect the value of the Tag in any way.  You can change the description from VIEW, on-line by changing the .DESCRP tag field.  Changes to Tag Fields, from VIEW, are not preserved after a SCADA Node restart.  Changes to Description from Configuration are preserved after a SCADA Node restart.  A typical description is Boiler Feed Pump #1 Status.

See also the "State Descriptors" STATE 0 thru STATE 7.  The STATE Descriptors describe the ON/OFF, Run Start values for the various discrete states of the Tag.  The DESCRIPTION does not affect the State Descriptors.

It will also appear in the Alarm Summary and will be read by the Text-to-Speech Alarm Annunciator.
